Background
Born at Benden Weyr, on 6/30 in Turn 16 of the 10th Pass, Emilly is the only child of Master Baker Emne and W'liam, rider of Brown Sleath at Igen Weyr, formerly an assistant Headman at Benden Weyr. Emilly grew up under the somewhat close eye of her flaky, paranoid mother, yielding an odd blend of Weyrbred and Holderish attitudes in the young woman.
Emilly was a rather reserved, shy and easily embarrassed child, not one to put herself forward much. Dreamy around the edges, this did not prevent her from being a dutiful and dedicated Weyr resident, though she tended to fade into the background amongst her more confident and colorful peers. As she passed her majority however, her mother became increasingly insistent that she choose a Craft or some form of calling, other than helping out the seamstresses at the Weyr and other general duties. Uncertain, Emilly withdrew further at first, resisting her mother's attempts to force her out of her shell. That is, until she met Girad, Cook's assistant and sparks suddenly flew between the two young people.
All of a sudden, Emilly had more reasons than ever to sort herself out, especially after Girad was Searched for a clutch at High Reaches Weyr and left Telgar. Rather than choose a Craft however, Emilly joined the Headwoman's staff, first at Telgar and then, following G'rad's Impression to bronze Behemoth, at the Reaches. She and G'rad weyrmated after he completed Weyrlinghood.
Emilly was Searched twice, at High Reaches: for Temornath and Yanaleth's clutch, and again for Jenryth and Dzurath's, at which she Impressed Green Sionath. Between clutches, she gave birth to her first child, Padraig, named for G'rad's father. One of the most difficult things she had to overcome as a Weyrling, was the battle between devotion to her dragon and devotion to her small son. Though Padraig was weaned before she was Searched, Emilly is a very maternal person, and consequently she had great difficulty forging a strong bond with her lifemate. This was exacerbated by the divergence in personality between the green dragon and her rider as well. This has resulted in what some might see as a continuing weak bond, a marked independence between rider and dragon, each less able to impact the other than is common in a dragonriding pair.
During the last years of the Pass, Emilly and Sionath were dutiful and competent enough at fighting Thread, but because of the nature of their bond, they were never really able to shine, no doubt due to constant internal squabbling over what the best thing to do was.
Weyrmated for a time to G'rad, E'lan and Abbe, Emilly's family grew to include not only Padraig, but son Giremi, daughters Ilyandra and Milani (by E'lan) and E'lan and Abbe's daughter Bella. She was also foster-mother to G'rad's daughter Aira by Baker Kaimi and briefly, Theona, E'lan's flight-born daughter.
Emilly tossed G'rad out after one too many breakings of their weyrmating agreement, however, and Abbe has moved out as well, leaving E'lan and Emilly still together, in an open weyrmating.
Just before the end of the Pass, Emilly served as an Assistant Weyrlingmaster at Telgar Weyr, guesting under Weyrlingmaster I'sai. When she returned to High Reaches, S'din and Amilin brought her on board to serve as assistant for a few clutches. Assisting with weyrling training is something that Emilly enjoys greatly and is well-suited for in an Interval when injuries and losses are minimal compared to a Pass.
After the last Fall of the Pass, Emilly shifted her focus to cross-crafting at the WeaverHall and has been working steadily on the curriculum and requirements in order to pass the Weaver Journeyman exams. Sadly, with the return of Thread, the rider has had to put her plans for Crafting on hold.
